We’ve Been Quiet. But We Haven’t Been Standing Still.

The next stage of Freeway Motors — helping dealers compete for more vehicle opportunities while keeping control of the retail customer relationship.

Your Customer. Your Opportunity. Your Deal.

Third-party vehicle-buying marketplaces have made it easier for consumers to sell their cars. But they have also created more competition for motor dealers, potentially taking the customer’s existing vehicle — and the opportunity to influence their next purchase — away from the retailer.

For the customer, this can mean two separate transactions: selling their existing vehicle through a third party and then finding somewhere else to purchase their next car.

We believe there’s a better way.

Our ambition with Freeway Motors is to give dealers the infrastructure to compete more effectively for these opportunities while the retail deal is still being made.

By combining DRS remote vehicle appraisal technology with the Freeway dealer network, a customer’s vehicle condition can be captured on their own driveway, assessed by the retailer and introduced to potential trade buyers before the part-exchange has even been agreed.

This gives the dealer greater confidence in the vehicle’s value and potential onward buyer, helping them structure a competitive retail deal without necessarily taking the vehicle into stock.

For the customer, it creates a simpler, more joined-up experience, with one dealer managing the vehicle change rather than having to sell their existing car separately before purchasing their next one.

For the dealer, it’s about winning the retail sale — not simply disposing of the part-exchange afterwards.

Capture First. Decide Second. Route Anywhere.

The key to making better decisions about a customer’s existing vehicle is understanding its condition and potential value before the retail deal is agreed. We’ve explored why vehicle condition and real buyer demand matter just as much as market data when assessing a part-exchange.

Using DRS remote appraisal technology, dealers can invite customers to capture their vehicle’s condition, photographs and supporting information from their own driveway — without needing to visit the dealership.

Using DRS’s advanced image scrutiny tools, the dealer can examine the vehicle in greater detail, identifying potential dents, scratches, panel misalignment, paint colour differences, kerbed alloy wheels and other condition issues that might otherwise be overlooked.

Armed with this information, the dealer can make a more informed assessment and, where appropriate, introduce the vehicle to potential buyers through Freeway Motors while the customer’s next vehicle purchase is still being negotiated.

Interested buyers can make offers, allowing the selling dealer to assess the available options and negotiate with greater confidence.

Rather than committing to a part-exchange value and worrying about its disposal afterwards, the dealer has the opportunity to identify a potential buyer as part of the deal-making process itself.

And importantly, the dealer remains in control of where the opportunity goes and how the customer relationship is managed.

Connect. Negotiate. Agree.

Once a vehicle opportunity has been introduced to Freeway Motors, registered dealers can view the vehicle information, examine its condition and express an interest in purchasing it.

Buyers can submit offers directly to the selling dealer, who can accept, decline or respond with a revised asking price.

Both parties can negotiate through Freeway’s integrated messaging system, with offers, counter-offers and conversations recorded in a clear transaction history.

Where an agreement is reached, the vehicle is marked Deal Agreed — Subject to Condition (STC), providing both parties with a clear record of the agreed position.

For the selling dealer, this means having the opportunity to establish a trade buyer and negotiate a price while the customer’s retail transaction is still being progressed.

And because Freeway connects dealers directly, they retain control of their commercial decisions without Freeway acting as an intermediary in the negotiation.

Complete Visibility. From First Offer to Final Outcome.

Vehicle negotiations often involve multiple conversations, offers and counter-offers, making it difficult to keep track of who offered what and where each opportunity stands.

Freeway Motors brings those conversations together in one place.

Dealers can review offers, revised asking prices and messages, with a clear history of how each negotiation has progressed.

Whether a deal is agreed subject to condition, an offer is declined or a negotiation ends without agreement, the outcome remains visible alongside the relevant conversation history.

For the selling dealer, this provides a clearer picture of buyer interest and the options available, helping them make informed decisions while progressing the customer’s retail transaction.

Every conversation has a history. Every opportunity has an outcome.

Helping Dealers Compete. Making Life Easier for Customers.

For many consumers, selling their existing vehicle and buying their next one have become two separate transactions, often involving different businesses.

Freeway Motors gives dealers the infrastructure to offer an alternative.

By capturing vehicle condition remotely, identifying potential trade buyers and negotiating values during the retail sales process, dealers have more opportunities to put together a competitive deal for their customers.

For the consumer, that can mean dealing with one trusted retailer throughout the vehicle change, rather than arranging a separate sale before purchasing their next car.

For the dealer, it means retaining the customer relationship, protecting the opportunity to sell the next vehicle and potentially avoiding the need to take an unwanted part-exchange into stock.

One customer relationship. One joined-up transaction. More opportunities to secure the retail sale.

Free to Buy. Free to Sell. More Value in the Deal.

When a motor dealer buys a vehicle, the purchase price is only part of the equation.

Buyers must also consider transport, preparation and any marketplace fees to establish the vehicle’s true landed cost. Depending on the vehicle’s value, traditional buyer fees can add hundreds of pounds — sometimes more than £1,000 — to that cost. We’ve previously explored how marketplace fees influence part-exchange strategy and the true cost of acquiring a vehicle.

Freeway Motors doesn’t charge buyer or seller transaction fees.

By removing those fees, buying dealers have the potential to offer more for a vehicle without increasing their overall acquisition cost.

For the selling dealer, a stronger trade offer can mean more value available to support the customer’s part-exchange allowance.

And for the consumer, that can translate into a lower cost to change when purchasing their next vehicle.

It’s not simply about saving fees. It’s about keeping more value within the retail transaction and giving dealers a better opportunity to win the sale.

We’re Growing. And We’d Like You to Be Part of It.

Freeway Motors is in an exciting phase of growth, and its success depends on the participation of the motor dealer community.

Our ambition is to build a connected network of dealers who not only buy and sell vehicles but actively help one another identify new opportunities.

If you’re already registered with Freeway, we’d encourage you to invite other dealers to join — whether they simply want to browse and buy vehicles or use DRS to introduce their own opportunities to the network.

And if you spot a vehicle on Freeway that isn’t right for your business, perhaps you know another dealer who would be interested?

With Freeway’s quick WhatsApp sharing facility, you can introduce that opportunity to another dealer in seconds, even if they’re not yet part of the network.

It’s a simple way to help a fellow dealer find a buyer, introduce new businesses to Freeway and strengthen the community for everyone.

The more dealers we connect, the more opportunities we create.

Together, we can build a dealer community that competes more effectively, shares opportunities and keeps more vehicle transactions within the motor trade.
